Treat yourself to a spa night each week, your skin deserves it.

If your skin has lost its radiantly youthful glow, it might be time for a luxurious face mask – and we’ve got the perfect one you can do at home!

Often dead skin cells can become ‘stuck’ on the top layer of our skin. Have you ever experienced leathery and flakey looking skin? No fear, a simple scrub and polish will bring your nice rosy skin back to life. It’s also important to keep in mind that our sebum glands produce oil, which is needed for keeping the skin barrier intact. But if not washed off properly, that extra oil may clog your pores along with air pollution and dirt. This is what causes blackheads or pimples to develop on our skin. Especially around the cheeks, nose and chin.

Here is a Pascoe-approved guide to upgrading your beauty routine and our revitalizing face mask recipes.

Step 1: Choose a Night to Pamper Your Skin

Allocate a specific day for your skin treatment in your weekly schedule. We usually recommend midweek as it doesn’t interfere with any weekend plans. What time of the day? An evening spa retreat feels like an ideal time for many to relax, rejuvenate, and detoxify. But find a time that fits your schedule best and stick to it!

Step 2: Ambiance, Ambiance, Ambiance

Now to set the mood for your relaxing at-home spa. Light some candles, use your favourite essence and light your diffuser. Choose soothing and relaxing music to listen to. Treat yourself to a herbal tea while you are enjoying your ‘you’ time. A soothing green, white or favourite herbal tea helps to get rid of toxins internally and helps your skin to release toxins externally.

Step 3: Relax with a Steamy Bath

Take a bath with some herbs or flowers to open the pores and make the skin ready for your treatment. Our favourite dry or fresh herbs and flowers are Mint-Chamomile, Lavender-Thyme, Rose-Sage mixtures. It’s all about experimenting and finding the right combination to fit your mood.

If you prefer a facial steam bath, we’ve got you covered! Simply boil some water on the stove. Once you remove the boiled water from the heat, add your flower-herb pack and steam your face for three to five minutes. Make sure your face is washed with a cleanser before starting.

Step 4: Apply Your Face Mask

We recommend you prepare your mask in advance to use on your face after steaming. Whether you prefer gritty clay or soft and smooth, mix a clay that is suitable for your skin type to provide natural healing minerals. Here are two personal favourite face mask recipes we think you’ll love!

Smashed Avocado Mask

  • Puree 1/3 of an avocado
  • Add a touch of honey
  • Add a few drops of your preferred essential oil to soothe your senses
  • Note: Use a ¼ of avocado if you are adding clay and a spoonful of your herbal tea

This Avocado Mask is ideal for those with dry to normal skin! For those with normal to oily skin, we recommend the Yogurt Mask recipe. It balances and cools down acne-prone skin and also delivers probiotics to combat bacterial inflammation.

Yogurt Mask Recipe

  • Beat 1 egg yolk with 2 tbsp. of yogurt
  • Add ½ tbsp. of lemon juice.

Allow the mask to dry on your skin for 15-20 minutes. Use tepid water to cleanse the mask off your skin. Make sure you tone the skin and close your pores after your mask. A cotton pad drenched in herbal tea (for oily skin) or a mixture of rosewater and milk (for dry and sensitive skin) is perfect for toning.

Step 5: Massage, Nourish, and Hydrate

End your nightly routine with a gentle massage using a nourishing serum such as Pascoe’s Vitamin C Serum Intensive Care, and a high-quality cream to lock in hydration such as Pascoe’s Hyaluronic Face Cream.
